Open Question: What do you think is good punishment for a student caught selling 1lb of weed in school?
Today a student at my school was caught with 1 pound of marijuana in a brick along with $140. He also admitted that he had in the past and was still going to sell it to students at the school. Our principle gave him 10 days of suspension, which is actually less than the amount that has been given to students who have committed less serious offenses. What do you think about this situation?
I personally feel that it is a mediocre excuse for punishment. I work at a disadvantaged school where these kind of problems are common, unfortunately. Security actually happened to find the drugs in a student’s backpack while searching for a supposed gun that someone had brought to school. The principle is incompetent and takes misbehavior very lightly. This is also not the first time that a student has been caught selling drugs and allowed back. I am considering contacting Fox News or something of the sort. This last incident at my school and the administration’s irresponsibility has just about done it for me.
